"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

Our Philosophy
At Mid-Jersey Knights we believe that everyone has the right for their field hockey potential to be realized. That's why we started the club - to give players of all ages and abilities access to top-level coaching and top-level facilities, both indoor and outdoor.
Led by Joey Civico, UK native and Level 3 qualified USAFH coach and Rutgers Assistant Coach, and Meredith Civico, New Jersey native, NCAA national champion and Head Field Hockey Coach at Rutgers University, Mid-Jersey Knights Field Hockey puts the focus on YOU. We will ensure you become a more technical field hockey player, a smarter field hockey player and a field hockey player that knows how to win and still have fun.
Being part of our field hockey club means YOU WILL become a better field hockey player. So come along to a try-out or one of our practices and find out for yourself why everyone is talking about Mid-Jersey Knights Field Hockey Club.
Open to all
At Mid-Jersey Knights Field Hockey Club we don't discriminate how many years you've been playing, whether you're on the USA national squad or you just missed out on being selected for your middle school team. And we certainly don't care about your background, ethnicity or sexuality. What we do care about is how we can help you become a better field hockey player and a better team mate. Using years of combined experience, our coaching staff will do all we can to ensure that happens.
Coaching Objectives
New Jersey is at the very center of field hockey in the US. We want to ensure athletes here learn the game in the right way so they can achieve great things in high school, college and with the national team. These are some of our main focuses:

Coaching Objectives
New Jersey is at the very center of field hockey in the US. We want to ensure athletes here learn the game in the right way so they can achieve great things in high school, college and with the national team. These are some of our main focuses:
- Fundamentals. Without basic skills you will not become a high-level player. It is as simple as that. We put great emphasis on doing the fundamental skills consistently well.
- Creativity. Hockey is one of those rare sports where creativity should be encouraged, not hidden away. You will be encourage to express yourself and to be an individual.
- Tactics. Hockey isn't golf. Obviously. You have to think about so many things other than yourself. Not just the opposition, your team mates too. Train as a Knight and you'll develop a greater understanding of the game.
- Sportsmanship. Winning is important but so is winning the right way. As a Knight you will play with pride and passion but also with respect at all times. This isn't optional.
- Fun. This isn't optional either. Above all else we play hockey because we love it. It may be hard work, we may have to get up early and there may even be times when we lose(!), but do it because we love the sport, love our team mates and love being a Knight.
